Commercially focused, tailored employment law advice
Hi I’m Zoë, and I am the People Director at Impression. We are a Digital Marketing Agency based across Nottingham and London. We do all-encompassed marketing, such as paid media, organic media, digital PR, CRM, etc.
We’ve been working with Halborns since I joined about two years ago. Prior to that, I also had worked with Halborns probably for about three years, and when I joined this organisation and I realised we would need some external legal counsel, it was obvious to me who I would pick.
I had such a great experience working with Halborns a couple of years ago. I just found that anything we brought to them, they worked through with us in a real partnership. It wasn’t that we were being told ‘Yes or no’, ‘black or white’, this is how it has to be. It was an exploratory conversation, thinking about what our best possible outcome could be and then just having a really direct conversation about that.
Every stakeholder at the time was very impressed with the level of service that we had, which was obviously a great reflection on that partnership. And then when I moved over into a different business, like I said it became obvious who I wanted to then work with; and once again, we’ve had some fantastic conversations, really suiting our business and the needs that we have.
I also really have enjoyed working on certain projects as well. Thinking about making our policies and the way in which we’re communicating certain aspects of employment law more accessibly to our people. Halborns really understood our tone-of-voice, they really understood the types of people we have in our business, and the work really spoke to that. We didn’t have any issues rolling any of that out and it’s made a massive impact.
There’s lots of stuff that happens behind the scenes that, I suppose, most people don’t see, but for me it’s integral that my stakeholders, when we need to use some external counsel, really trust in whomever we’re using and for Halborns I did not have any issues with that. I knew that they would be fantastic in this business as well and that has played out exactly how I thought it would.
We primarily work with Rena, who is really living their values of being straight-talking, so commercial, so engaging, a really great balance of the human-side but also thinking about how we can get the best outcome as well. I think that’s the type of counsel that we would want to have rather than it feeling overly formal.
I feel like I’m always going to want to take Halborns with me, wherever I go.
